Urban Mapping today announces availability
of its flagship product, Urban Mapping: Manhattan.
The company has introduced a new breed of map
that is innovative in look and feel and combines multiple maps
onto one printed substrate.
The core of our technology
is a patent-pending means of spatially configuring data. This
allows users to view multiple layers of information within the
same physical space. By changing the angle of viewing, the map
passes through the street grid, subway system, and neighborhoods.
Proprietary research has allowed Urban Mapping to maximize cognitive
and visual impact.
Urban Mapping Founder Ian White comments: "Urban
Mapping: Manhattan for tourists is a wonderful consumer product
that has been developed from the perspective of a user, not a
cartographer or product manager. The underlying technology has
many applications, and I know this product will resonate with
anybody who is a New Yorker at heart. Manhattan was chosen as
the first city because 40 million visitors pass through annually,
and the transportation network and street layout have world-class
complexity."
Don Norman, an advocate of user-centered design,
and author of "The Design of Everyday Things," hails the product
as "elegant, fun and functional." Norman, who is also Professor
of Computer Science at Northwestern University and cofounder of
the Nielsen Norman Group, has also served as Vice President of
the Advanced Technology Group at Apple Computer.
Following release of the Manhattan product,
Urban Mapping will introduce products for other metropolitan areas
within the US and abroad. Urban Mapping: Manhattan may be purchased
through specialty retailers or directly from Urban Mapping at
866.CITYMAP or www.urbanmapping.com.
