The management team of Harmony Pharmacy has diverse backgrounds and varying skill sets. We believe that our diversity and common values make our leadership well-prepared to engage and succeed in tackling the broad challenges of our ever-evolving industry.

 

 

Michael Tovian
Chief Executive Officer & President

 

Michael (“Mike“) Tovian joined Harmony Pharmacy and Health Center as CEO/President in October of 2008 after a career in Senior Management in the Drug store and Healthcare Consulting industry. Mr. Tovian had served as Managing Director of Healthios Global, Inc, a healthcare merchant banking firm for the previous year. His client industry expertise focused on pharmacy delivery systems, retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, home care and infusion, compounding pharmacy, disease management and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Tovian joined Healthios in November of 2007 after a 27-year career with Walgreen Drug Stores, Inc. Mr. Tovians' last position of Vice President of Managed Care Sales and Contracting had a profit and loss responsibility of over 20 Billion dollars with wide ranging experience in retail management, managed care, pharmacy administration, health care, key accounts and government affairs. Membership on executive corporate committees helped determine the company's' tactical direction and strategic initiatives. Previous to his Managed Care role, Mr. Tovian served as Vice President of Store Operations in the Puerto Rico and Southern Florida markets with responsibility of over 2 Billion dollars and 250 stores. Mr. Tovian served as the corporate Chairman of the Multicultural Task Force which resulted in several key strategies and initiatives..eg. prescription labels in several languages. Mr. Tovian also served on several executive Corporate Pharmacy, Budgeting and Strategy committees. Michael Tovian is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Pharmacy. He has attended Duke University and Wharton School of Business Executive and Pharmacy management programs.

 

 

Kenneth M. Corroon
Co-Founder

 

Since he co-founded the company in 2005, Mr. Corroon has been the driving force behind the brand development, product selection and conceptual execution of Harmony Pharmacy & Health Center, Inc. first as its CEO and currently as a prominent shareholder. He has been featured on/in CNBC Power Lunch, CNN, Fox News and the New York Times. Before leaving to form Homeostasis Laboratories™, Inc. (www.homeostasislabs.com), Mr. Corroon secured eight new airport store locations throughout the country for Harmony Pharmacy and won Best New Retail Concept of the Year (1st runner up) and was nominated for Best New Design of the Year by the Airport Council International. His goal in creating Homeostasis Laboratories™ was to offer and deliver the best quality and most effective homeopathic medicine in the world. From the company's world class U.S.-based formulation and production team, to it's elegant sustainable packaging that is produced by renewable energy in a carbon neutral environment, Homeostasis Laboratories™ seeks to deliver the highest quality homeopathic products at a reasonable price. Mr. Corroon attended and played varsity basketball at Oklahoma State University. Mr. Corroon also spent two years in Athens, Greece playing professional basketball for Olympiakos Sports Club. He was a Vice President at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and then attended Harvard University and the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business where he earned his Master of Liberal Arts in Government and his MBA in Finance & Accounting, respectively. Mr. Corroon also worked for Morgan Stanley in New York as an investment banker in the firm's Financial Sponsors Group focusing on the retail industry and spent four years at UBS Investment Bank.

 

 

Howard M. Hertz, M.D.
Chairman & Co-Founder

 

 

Dr. Hertz is the sole concept creator of Harmony Pharmacy and Health Center, Inc. Dr. Hertz owns and operates one of the largest privately held comprehensive medical practices in New York, where he began his internal medicine practice over 25 years ago. Dr. Hertz has full attending privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital, and has been chosen by the Consumers Research Council of America to be included in the 2007 and 2008 editions of Guide to America's Top Physicians. He is fluent in Spanish, German and Italian. Dr. Hertz maintains a lifelong passion for the arts, especially classical music, and has been a professional pianist for over 25 years. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of The American Friends of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra as well as the Board of Governors for the Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt Institute. Dr. Hertz is also a resident member of the Metropolitan Club of New York City.

 

 

Michael T. Tokarz
Director

 

Mr. Tokarz is the Chairman of the Board and the senior investment professional for MVC Capital (NYSE Ticker: MVC). He has over 30 years of lending and investment experience. Prior to founding The Tokarz Group (in 2002), a private merchant bank of which he is Chairman, Mr. Tokarz was a General Partner with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. ("KKR"), one of the world's most experienced private equity firms. During his 17-year tenure at KKR, he participated in diverse leveraged buyouts including Walter Industries, Inc., Stonewater Control Systems, and others. He is also the owner of Frederick's of Hollywood and Arrow Airlines. Mr. Tokarz received his undergraduate degree with High Distinction in Economics and MBA in Finance from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant.

 

 

Christopher Sullivan
Director of Planning & Development

 

Mr. Sullivan is Director of Planning & Development at Harmony Pharmacy and is a principal at MVC Capital. He worked with BM Auto, Ltd. in Latvia establishing BMW and Mini-Cooper dealerships in Eastern Europe. He previously worked for Credit Suisse First Boston in Equity Capital Markets where he interacted with numerous issuers and financial sponsors to execute initial public offerings and follow-on stock offerings. Before working at Credit Suisse First Boston, Mr. Sullivan worked as an Analyst in Equity Capital Markets for CIBC World Markets. Mr. Sullivan holds an MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Mr. Sullivan also holds a BA in History from Dartmouth College.

 

 

Stephanie L. Leung
R. PH, Director of Pharmacy Operations

 

Ms. Leung graduated St. Johns University College of Pharmacy and has been a registered pharmacist in the State of New Jersey since 1998. Stephanie previously worked as a pharmacy manager for Stop & Shop Supermarket pharmacy for eight years. As manager for Stop & Shop Supermarket pharmacy, she oversaw all of the pharmaceutical operations including the provision of routine and emergency drug screening, information processing and dispensing services for various drugs to patients. Other accomplishments include induction into Manchester Who's Who among Executives and Professional Registry edition 2005-2006. Stephanie believes that professionalism, dedication, excellent customer service, and most of all, positive attitude, are the ultimate goals in customer service.

 

 

Dawn Montano
Director of Vendor Relations
and Store Manager

 

Ms. Montano joined Harmony Pharmacy in 2007 with a breadth of experience in management and leadership roles from her employment with MCI/WorldCom, Fairchild Telecommunications and FMB Asset Management where she utilized her NYS Real Estate License. Her diverse background and management style made her the ideal candidate for Harmony Pharmacy as Director of Vendor Relations including responsibility for product selection. In addition to this corporate role Ms. Montano manages the flagship store in Greenwich, CT.

 

 

Sonali Chakraborti-Costa
R. PH, Implementation Manager for Pharmacy Operations

 

In September 2008 Sonali Chakraborti-Costa was asked to sit on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Pharmacist Association. She attained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University, School of Pharmacy and Allied Health. She has been a registered pharmacist for the state of Connecticut for 5 years. Her management experience include Eckerd and Stop and Shop pharmacy where she implemented protocol, as well as filled and monitored prescription interactions. She oversaw all of the pharmaceutical operations including the provision of routine and emergency drug screening, information processing, inventory upkeep and dispensing services for various drugs. She applies her experience and skill to assure optimal drug therapy outcomes for her patients. Mrs. Chakraborti-Costa is a member of the Connecticut Professional Association and is an instructor for a Pharmacy Technician course at Norwalk Community College. She is also certified in administering all Immunizations. Mrs. Chakraborti-Costa is fluent in Spanish. She believes in exceptional patient care and dedication to achieve the best interests of her patients.

 

 

Terry L. Conrad
M.S.N., A.N.P., Director of Nursing

 

Terry Conrad is a board certified nurse practitioner, she has a bachelors Degree in Nursing from Salve Regina University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was inducted into the National Mercy Honor Society for nursing. She earned her Master of Science in nursing from the University of Connecticut where she graduated Suma Cum Laude and was inducted into the National Honor Society for Nursing, Who’s Who Among America’s College Students and All American Scholar. Terry specializes in the area of cosmetic dermatology. She is affiliated with world renown dermatologist Albert Lefkovitz, MD of The Park Avenue Center for Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology and Dr. Jonathan Sherwin MDFACS. She is also a national trainer for botox and dermal fillers.
